It has often been put forward that we are exploiting Mother Earth and extracting resources from her endlessly, without realising the effects it has on her and ignoring the fact that she needs nurturing and preservation. Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon'ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the 'Nirmal Jal Prayaas' of NAREDCO Mahi , along with Indian Plumbing Association at PlumbEx on 12th May 2022.
Shorter showers and reusing water in homes can go a long way in contributing towards saving water in urban areas. While the government is doing a lot towards policies, strategy and execution to ensure rural areas get drinking water but without the support of citizen collaboration, this task is incomplete.
Water is depleting at alarming levels from Earth's reservoir. Unless corrective measures are taken immediately, the Earth is going to run dry in no time. NAREDCO Mahi's 'Nirmal Jal Prayaas' is an initiative through which advocacy, awareness and amplification towards saving water will be disseminated and highlighted.
The need to enhance water is being done because India has 17% of the world's population but only 4% of its fresh water reserves. Astonishingly, 50% of all communicable diseases such as Cholera, typhoid, amebiasis, leptospirosis, diarrhoea, is communicated through bad quality of water.
One of the key focus areas of NAREDCO Mahi is the The Nirmal Jal Prayaas.
