MOHUA Urges Builders To Invest In Rainwater Harvesting For Sustainable Housing
D Thara, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, called on the real estate sector to address sustainability challenges in housing projects by investing in rainwater harvesting and solar energy. Her remarks were made at the 3rd convention of NAREDCO Mahi, the women’s wing of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), held in New Delhi on June 14. Thara emphasized the need for the real estate industry to align with the new NDA government's vision, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which includes a strong focus on the construction of affordable housing. She highlighted that future housing projects should incorporate more walkable spaces and solar-powered parks and pathways. Moreover, builders should prioritize rainwater harvesting and efficient water resource management on-site, reducing reliance on external water supplies.
