Already facing inflationary pressure, the realty sector is seeking tax exemption for affordable housing and infrastructure status in the upcoming budget 2012-13.
According to Navin Raheja, president, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), there is a need for changes in government policies for development of realty sector and increase in supply of housing units.
"Treatment of housing as infrastructure will allow developers and housing finance institutions to raise funds at low rate," said Raheja.
