The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) recorded registration of 13 real estate agents in January. However, it is less by ten when compared with the corresponding period of January 2018.

The Tamil Nadu Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017 mandates that the registered real estate agents must maintain books of account, records and documents as per the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961. While 185 real estate agents registered with the TNRERA in 2017, the numbers jumped to 206 during the next year of 2018, data available with the realty regulator’s portal said.

The Real Estate Act came into effect in Tamil Nadu after the state government notified rules for the purpose on June 22, 2017.
